1940-50s Dark Brown Lacquer Wood Jewelry, Trinket, Case, Box with Gilt Ship on Lid.

This vintage jewelry box is called Lacquer Ware. It was very popular in the 50’s during the Koren War. These are general made of an excellent paper mache' with a lacquer finish. This one is wood. It has a dark brownish black lacquer finish with a hand painted gilt ship. The inside is done in a beautiful purple silk type fabric. Original clasp/hing. It has a couple of tiny nicks due to age and use. Box measures approx. 3-7/8" long by 2-3/8" wide and about one inch deep. Overall in good condition, structurally sound used box. Lovely collectible or usable antique piece.
