Beautiful pair of vintage Coral drop earrings composed of pretty delicate tiny branches or twigs. Polished Coral is in a salmon pink color. The branches alternate between long and short through out. Earrings are hand made with the use of French metal hooks for pierced ears. They have been restrung at some point of time using a clear plastic cord and they are in good vintage condition ~ Circa probably from the 1950s. Measures approx. 2-1/8" top to bottom by 1-1/2" widest part. We lemon tested the coral and it passed as genuine coral.

Many motifs of nature are found in jewelry design in the 19th century, Coral took the form of flowers, twigs, branches and leaves. At times, this was somewhat easy to accomplish since coral in its natural state looks like little branches. The material was combined with intricate gold work and sometimes enamel. Coral comes in a variety of colors ranging from a very light pink to a deep blood red and easy to hand-carve into lovely shapes.
